Women's Fly Fishing + WEllness retreats

Women's Fly Fishing Weekends on the McKenzie

Come for the fish. Stay for everything else.

This isn't your typical fishing trip. You don't need experience. You don't need gear. You don't even need to know a soul. You just need to show up, and we'll take care of the rest.

Salty Sisters and McKenzie River Fishing Guides & Rafting Tours are teaming up for a women's fly fishing weekend on Oregon's McKenzie River. A full day on the water with guides right beside you. A farm-to-table dinner the night before. And yes, you'll learn to cook your own catch. It's part adventure, part reset, and a lot more fun than you expect.

Never held a fly rod? Perfect. Been chasing trout for years? Also perfect. This is a weekend for women at every level. Come on your own or bring your crew. You'll leave with new skills, a full belly, and a few new friends.

2026 Weekends

  • September 26–27, 2026 (Celebrate summer with dinner in the creek. Bring your boots!)
  • October 24–25, 2026. (Fall themes and "witches paddle" sessions.)

October 24 features author Angela Hampton, whose new book, Tales from the Danube Cycle Path, releases this fall. Our September 26 guest speaker is Debbie Swigart LMT and Menopause Coach at Pause and Renew Wellness in Lake Oswego.

Look for more retreat dates starting in June 2027.

Here's How the Weekend Goes

Saturday is all about easing in. No chaos, no pressure. Move at your own pace. Flow through a restorative yoga session, get out on a paddleboard, or just sink into some quiet time by the creek. Soak your feet, get your hands into a craft, brush up on your casting, or let us help you sort out your rod for the morning. When the light goes golden, we gather for a happy hour and a seasonal, farm-to-table dinner at the historic, woman-owned Gate Creek Ranch, made with ingredients from Upriver Organic on the South Willamette Food Trail. Your seat at the table comes with a glass of wine to toast the day.

Sunday, you're on the water. A full guided fly fishing day on the McKenzie, with our guides right there with you the whole way. Come lunchtime, we break for a farmstead spread from Ozcar's while Smithey fires up their cast iron and cooks the trout you caught, right on the spot. Stick around for the giveaway — one lucky angler heads home with a piece of Smithey cast iron. Fair warning: you're going to want seconds.

Good to Know

  • Arrival: Saturday check-in opens at 9:30 AM with a welcome drink. Sunday, we meet at 8:00 AM to hit the water.
  • Gear: All gear is provided. Feel free to bring your own if you'd like.
  • Make a weekend of it: A lot of our anglers travel a few hours to get here, so plan to stay over — and leave time to soak at Belknap or Terwilliger hot springs while you're at it. Browse our lodging suggestions and find your spot.
  • Meals: Sunday's fishing-day lunch from Ozcar's Farmstead is included. On Saturday, plan to eat on-site from the à la carte menu at Gate Creek Ranch. No outside food allowed. Bring water bottles to refill at water stations.
